How Do We Save the Internet
Recently, I've been giving more and more thought to where we have come from in terms of the open internet, where we are now, how we got here, where we're headed currently. What was once a chaotic, free, and exciting place, has become funneled, controlled, and monetized... at the expense of the user's freedom and privacy. Now, please keep in mind that I'm not anti-government, anti-corporation, anti-capitalist, anti-profit, etc. No, I simply believe that the scales have tipped too far into the realm of command and control, and a course correction is needed. Balance must be restored to the force. Thankfully, I'm nowhere near the first to consider these topics, and certainly not the last.
Warning: This is an epic topic, and the rabbit hole goes quite deep, but any journey begins with a first step. Here is a link to a great foundational baseline summary for understanding our current state of affairs, and what has happened with the start/stop of various attempts to determine a better path forward. Then we can begin to understand our predicament.
